BAKERSFIELD
Kern County in south central California is mainly an oil producing and agricultural area. The total population for Kern County, is estimated at just under 800,000 people. The county seat is Bakersfield with a population of just under 375,000. The county's next largest city is Delano with a population of just under 40,000. The following cities and towns are also listed in Kern County, Arvin, California City, Lamont, Maricopa, McFarland, Oildale, Ridgecrest, Rosamond, Rosedale, Shafter, Taft, Tehachapi and Wasco, with 22 towns with populations of under 5,000 and over 20 towns with populations of under 1,000. We have not yet recieved any submissions for any cities or towns other than Bakersfield. Bordering counties are Inyo, Kings, Los Angeles, San Bernardino, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, Tulare and Ventura.
